Why Are HDMI Cables So Expensive?

Why Are HDMI Cables So Expensive?

Hdmi

If you are in the market for a new high definition television you should keep in mind that you'll also need to pick up some HDMI cables in order to take full advantage of the superior picture quality. The HDMI cables will connect your TV to your cable box or satellite so you can receive the high definition signal. Unfortunately they don't come with the TV so you'll have to buy them separately.

Now if you've never purchased HDMI cables before you might be shocked when you see the sticker price at your local retailer. You can expect to pay anywhere from to 0 for premium HDMI cables at most electronics stores. But instead of paying these ridiculous prices, what you should do is go online and order the cables you need. I got mine on Amazon for 6 bucks.

That's not a typo. I paid six dollars.

Why are HDMI cables so expensive if you buy them at the store?

Because retailers know that when you buy a brand new high definition television you won't be able to wait for cables to come separately. You'll want to run home and set everything up right away so you can check out the clarity on your new screen. Plus they know that the average guy off the street won't know any better, so they figure they can push you into purchasing an enormously profitable add-on.

In other words, they're taking advantage of you. Don't fall for it. Order your cables ahead of time or just wait the extra day or two and you'll save yourself a bundle.
