Samsung BD-C5900 1080p 3D Blu-Ray Disc Player Review

Samsung BD-C5900 1080p 3D Blu-Ray Disc Player Review

Hdmi

Samsung seems to be giving us every opportunity to get ready for the 3D trend in Home Entertainment. Along with its recent introduction of 3DTVs, Samsung has produced a great line up of 3D Blu-ray Players. The BD-C5900 Blu-ray Player is the entry level model that is Wireless LAN 'Ready', has internal decoding of Dolby and DTS soundtracks and access to Samsung Apps for streaming online content. Providing you with innovative features at a very reasonable and affordable price.

The BD-C5900 Blu-ray Player is only 1.7 inches thick, with a a stylish black high glossy finish. The control buttons, once powered on, will light up; making them easier to use. The buttons are located on the right side of the player. The Blu-ray 3D logo on top of the player also glows once the player is turned on. There is a USB Port just below the power button on the right. On the left side of the player is the disc loading tray.

VIDEO QUALITY: The Samsung BD-C5900 Blu-ray Player will provide you with great images. Video connections include HDMI (ver 1.4), Component Video Output and Composite Video Outputs. The best possible images will be with a HDMI connection which is capable of Full HD 1080p video on Blu-ray Discs and 1080p up-conversion when playing back DVDs. The Ultra Fast Play feature, should allow you to load these discs in less than 15 seconds, according to Samsung. Samsung has also conveniently equipped the player with it's Screen Fit feature which can automatically convert 21:9 aspect ratio movies to 16:9 aspect. A great feature if you if want to eliminate those annoying black bars on the Television screen.

AUDIO QUALITY: The BD-C5900 Blu-ray Player provides you with the latest 7.1-channel studio-quality surround sound (via. HDMI) with high resolution audio formats. You can connect the audio through one of the following outputs, HDMI (ver.1.4), Optical Digital Output, or Analog Audio Output 2.0-ch. It has internal audio decoding for Dolby TrueHD and dts-HD Master Audio. The player can also, transmit the audio in bitstream if you want the audio decoding done by your A/V receiver. However, it does not have 7.1 analog outputs, so those with older non-HDMI A/V receivers, the BD-C5900 may not be the best option.

The BD-C5900 Blu-ray Player is one of the rare entry level models that is equipped with the new video processing technology that supports 3D playback. It can provide great high definition 3D images found on 3D Blu-ray discs. Of course you will require a 3DTV and 3D glasses in order to enjoy 3D entertainment at home. While not necessary, it is recommended that you connect the player to one of Samsung's 3D HDTVs. This will allow you to take advantage of Samsung's Anynet+ feature, giving you control of all Samsung's audio and video devices with one remote control.

The BD-C5900 Blu-ray player also provides you with access to Internet-TV and Samsung Apps. Once you are connected to the internet, via the Ethernet Port or through a wireless USB LAN adapter (Sold Separately), you can stream movies, videos, TV shows, music and photos, etc. Some of the online streaming media service you can access from Samsung Apps are: BLOCKBUSTER®, YouTube™, Netflix, Monopoly gaming, interactive card games, Facebook®, Twitter™, Pandora, AccuWeather, Associated Press, USA Today and many more.

With Samsung's Allshare feature you can sync the BD-C5900 Blu-ray Player up to many of your digital devices. This will allow you to enjoy music, movies and photos from your computer, camera and mobile devices, on your TV screen. Supported files formats include MP3, DivX, Divx HD, JPEG, JPEG HD, MKV, or AVCHD. The BD-C5900 is Profile 2.0, so it has BD-Live support. You can download content from a certain Blu-ray Discs. Content such as deleted scenes, current movie trailers, features, movie trivia, chat rooms, live commentary and much more. There is no internal memory, so an external USB flash drive is required if you want to download BD-Live content.

THE PROS: The BD-5900 Blu-ray Player from Samsung is very similar to the BD-C5500 Blu-ray Player which was released earlier this year. The big difference between the two players is that the BD-C5900 has 3D Blu-ray capability. It also is Wi-Fi 'Ready', BD-Live 'Ready', and is DLNA certified. Supports online media services: Internet-TV/Samsung Apps(provides content from Netflix, Pandora, Vudu, Blockbuster, Picasa and Twitter). Has internal audio decoding for Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital Plus.

THE CONS: To enjoy 3D at home, you will need to have a 3D TV and 3D glasses. It is only WI-FI 'Ready', so you have to purchase a wireless LAN Adapter. No internal memory for Storage and to access BD-Live content. A USB external memory device is needed.

THE FINAL WORD: The Samsung BD-C5900 3D Blu-ray Player provides great audio and video quality. It has great features such as Online Streaming and DLNA support. It lacks some of the features of higher end models, but it is one of the cheapest 3D Blu-ray Players on the market. This alone should make the BD-C5900 an appealing option for those wanting to enjoy 3D Movies at home. -- Price you should look for when purchasing -- Under 0.00

The Best Projector for iPad 2

The Best Projector for iPad 2

Hdmi

The iPad 2 was released in early March and has since been widely received as a monumental improvement to its predecessor. With its new HDMI output, the iPad 2 can do a whole lot more than it once could and projector connectivity couldn't be simpler. Using the iPad's keynote application, it is very easy to create visually stunning and content rich presentations that can now be displayed to a much larger audience. So other than a conventional HD projector, what can you connect your new iPad 2 to in order to project decent images?

This article is going to look a portable projectors, also known as 'pico' projectors. They tend to be no bigger than an iPhone in size and can often display projections as large as 100" in great quality. These pico projectors aren't a new product - they started gaining popularity back in 2009, but with the iPad and now the iPad 2, this popularity is on the rise and knowing what pico projector to get is important!

Rather than focus on the older pico projectors like the Optima PK201, MPRO & AAXA that were released in late 2009 and early 2010, we will focus on two of the latest and greatest - the MicroVision SHOWWX+ and the Cinemin Slice.

Cinemin Slice

What's so great about it?
Doubles up as an iPad dock Inbuilt speakers HDMI connectivity

The Cinemin Slice was released early in 2011. As this device is one of the only pico projectors to have speakers built into the hardware, the price is substantially greater than its competitors. This should be the one single factor that you should ask yourself when considering the Cinemin Slice - do you want inbuilt portable audio as well as projections? If not, you're a lot better off getting the...

SHOWWX+

After about a year of the SHOWWX, Microvision decided to release its second pico projector, the one with the '+'. By far the most popular and slickest looking projector, it's fair to say that this is device is the market leader.

What's so great about it?
Apple Compatibility No bigger than an iPhone 15 Lumens

So that means that you can project video from your Netflix app into a 100" bright display from a device no bigger than your phone! The only downside is the lack of audio, but if you have portable speakers or headphones then this is the iPad accessory of 2011.

How to Play Blu-Ray Movies/Videos on HDTV With Blu-Ray Player/Mobile Phone Via DLNA/HDMI

How to Play Blu-Ray Movies/Videos on HDTV With Blu-Ray Player/Mobile Phone Via DLNA/HDMI

Hdmi

Blu-ray technology has become more and more powerful. So there come a growing number of Blu-ray products in the market, like BD, BD Player, etc. Have you got some Blu-ray disc movies at home? Have you ever enjoy those BDmovies on your HDTV with Home Theatre to get the best benefits? Have you met some problems? Do not worry, this article is just written for you, who want to try different ways to enjoy the BD movie. Here we go!

Method One: Play Blu-ray movie with Blu-ray Player on HDTV via HDMI.
This is the easiest way to play your BD Movie on HDTV with Blu-ray Player. You just need to connect the devices. Here is the step instruction:
Step 1: Connect your BD Player with HDTV and Home Theatre.
Step 2: Turn on the BD Player, HDTV and Home Theatre.
Step 3: Place the BD disc in BD Player.
Then you can use the controller to play it.

PS:
To connect BD Player with HD TV and Home Theatre, you need HDMI for help. There are two ways to connect them. The first one is to connect your Blu-ray Player to Home Theatre with one HDMI cable first and then use a second cable from the Home Theatre to the HDTV. The second way is to use HDMI output from BD player to TV for video and optical digital cable output from BD player to Home Theater input for surround sound.
Here the first way is highly recommended. Because if you have more than one video source (e.g. Blu-ray and HD cable or satellite), you have to select video source at the TV and audio at the Home Theatre.

Method Two: Watch Blu-ray videos with Blu-ray Player on HDTV via DLNA.
If your BD Player are of DLNA-capable. You can try this method.
This way will help you protect your BD disc away from physical damage. So you need to backup Blu-ray movie to PC. However, not all formats are supported by DLNA.

To solve this problem you can directly rip and convert Blu-ray to DLNA supported formats. Foxreal Blu-ray Ripper can do you such a nice favor. Then you can watch Blu-ray movie on PC with HDTV via DLNA. Here I will show you how to realize it by a step-by-step guide.

Step 1: Rip BD movies to PC with Foxreal Blu-ray Ripper.
Step 2: Ensure that your computer has installed DLNA server like Windows Media Player 11 or PS3 Media Server or something like that. (Windows 7 has built-in DLNA server support and doesn't require additional software.)
Step 3: DLNA setup on PC.
If you are not familiar with the steps, you can find more info here DLNA server setup (for XP and Vista).
If your OS is Windows 7, you can directly click start and type "Media Streaming" in the search box, then click Media Streaming Option (generally the first option) to turn on Media Streaming.
Step 4: BD Player Setup.
Connect your BD Player with HDTV and home theatre. Then ensure that your BD Player has been connected to the home network (wired or wireless).
Step 5: Play BD movie on HDTV.
Use HDTV remote control to find the BD movies shared via Windows Media Player 11. Then you can freely enjoy those BD movies from your computer.

Except BD movie, with this method you can also enjoy any other video or movie from your PC with BD Player on HDTV.

Method Three: Enjoy Blu-ray movie with Mobile phone on HDTV via DLNA/HDMI.
Some people like to stream BD movies to mobile phone so that they can take them anywhere and enjoy anytime. If your phone supports DLNA then you can try this way to enjoy BD movie on HDTV.

Here I will choose Droid X as an example show you how to play BD movie with Droid X on HDTV via DLNA/HDMI.

Part I: Stream BD videos to Droid X.
As we know, any mobile phone cannot support all video formats. So does Droid X. Droid X only supports formats like MPEG-4, MP4, H.264, WMV, DIVX or XVID. Generally H.264 (*.mp4) is the best format for Droid X. Then the best way is to rip and convert BD movies to H.264 (*.mp4) for Droid X. Foxreal Blu-ray Converter will be your good choice.

Step 1: Rip and convert BD movies for Droid X.
Format Video H.264 (*.mp4) at 1500 bitrate and 23.97 frame rate with 854*480 resolution is recommend here, with which you can enjoy BD movie on your Droid X with full screen to get the best visual effect.
Step 2: Transfer BD movies to Droid X with USB connection.

Part II: Stream Blu-ray moives to HDTV via DLNA.
Step 1: Ensure that your home network or WiFi network is running.
Step 2: Turn on the DLNA-capable HDTV and make it connect to the WiFi network.
Step 3: Select the DLNA application on Droid X. (If you get a pop-up message notifying you to turn on WiFi connection, click Yes to turn on WiFi.).
Step 4: Choose Share media on DLNA screen and then select video as the media file you want to share. Click OK.

Then wait for a minute until a green DLNA logo appears in the status bar showing the DLNA connection successfully.

What is DisplayPort?

What is DisplayPort?

Hdmi

Displayport is one of the newer video digital interfaces that serve as a cathode ray tube, or CRT for monitors and televisions. Displayport is one of the Video Electronics Standards Association's (VESA) newest vision in simplifying and standardizing video connections, including the common and much used VGA, DVI and HDMI interfaces.

The maximum capacity in transfer for a Displayport interface is around 8.6 gigabits per second over a 2m cable. The Displayport connector acts as a direct competitor with the HDMI, featuring richer colours, higher resolutions and being able to hold a variety of different channels which handle device control instructions.

This particular cable has been in the markets since 2008. While the original VGA port has been extremely reliable and compliant, the Displayport cable sets a new standard which is on par with the HDMI. Possible uses for the Displayport cable range from a home entertainment system to a computer monitor. The Displayport connection allows for a direct connection from the computer onto a digital entertainment system, greatly simplifying the process and cutting out any messy wires.

Utilising a USB connection supporting 1 of 4 pairs of data including audio, video, and clock signals, the Displayport cable boasts a maximum resolution of 1080p. Although the Displayport cable itself is compliant with other HD systems such as DVI and HDMI, the Displayport connector itself is not cross compatible.

Security measures implemented into the cable includes DPCP, or otherwise known as DisplayPort Content Protection. DPCP allows for users to optionally enable content protection that can help protect transmission data from being intercepted and sent to unauthorized users from a distance. The Displayport system is also being constantly upgraded, with its development backed up by Intel is releasing new versions to the market much like the way HDMI does so.

And in comparison, when looking at Displayport and HDMI, which one is better than the other? There are a variety of answers to this, but one advantage of using Displayport is that it is currently license free, meaning that developers and computer technology manufacturers are more likely to use the Displayport connector since it is more cost effective than the HDMI which requires licensing fees. In terms of quality, the Displayport would be more or less on the same level as a HDMI, which is by far one of the best means of display HD media. Displayport has received much positive feedback from the market, and it will probably continue to do so.
